Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i has missing in action of late.
The CS recently made headlines when he alongside Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet and Immigration PS Gordon Kihalangwa firmly opposed Miguna Miguna's entry into the country on grounds that he was an undocumented person. Matiang’i now seems to be after security officers who have been accused of laxity instead of executing their mandate to ensure Kenyans are safe whenever and wherever they are. In one of his latest speech in his home county of Nyamira in early April, Dr Matiang'i warned that police officers who fail to contain cases of crime in their areas of jurisdiction will be sacked. “Security bosses will face the sack unless they strive to help the government in realising its key objective of securing property and lives of citizens," Matiang'i said.“If you are not ready to work with the government, you better quit and do something else. You can even just become a farmer,” he added, as quoted by the Nation. The CS decried rising insecurity in Kisii and Nyamira counties, where cases of kidnapping have been on the rise.If you have been wondering where the CS is then it is now clear that he is busy monitoring Kenya's security from the base to ensure Kenyans at the grassroots level are fully catered for under his docket.
