Former Dagorreti South MP Dennis Waweru has taken a low political life after his bid to contest for the Nairobi governor seat in last year's general election failed.
Waweru, a close ally of President Uhuru Kenyatta, lost the Jubilee Party nomination ticket to the now Governor Mike Sonko.
The youthful former lawmaker had an ambitious manifesto for Nairobian's should he have passed the nomination stage and elected governor.
In his speech after losing the Jubilee ticket that was hotly contested, Wawere had then pledged to work with Sonko.
There were even claims that Sonko would have picked the former vocal lawmaker as his deputy.
However, the now Nairobi governor picked Polycarp Igathe as his deputy who later resigned.
Waweru, a banker by profession and a businessman's political silence is what is now worrying his supporters.
The former vocal lawmaker has remained silent and his political whereabouts remain unknown even as the 2022 succession politics begins to take shape.
According to political analyst Peter Ngure, Waweru will make a political comeback in 2022.
Ngure observes that the youthful city politician has leadership potential and is among politicians to watch for in the 2022 general election.
"Waweru is among smart youthful politicians who are going to shape city politics in the 2022 general election," Ngure said in an interview on Monday.
The analyst observed that Waweru is likely to bid for the Nairobi governor seat after his attempt in 2017 failed.
The analyst added that the former MP's silence on issues surrounding Nairobi governor Mike Sonko cannot be under-rated.
