The two hits were among many of her songs which Kenyans from all walks of life could not have enough of. Years later, she released more hits like ‘Yahweh’ which led many to develop a liking for gospel music which was then, making baby steps in rivaling secular music in the country.

However, questions abound on the whereabouts of the once revered gospel musician who became the first Kenyan singer to have her song, ‘Furahia’ featured on an international compilation CD, ‘stars of Afro-pop’, by A.R.C music.

It has been several years since she released a new track. In 2016, she revealed she was battling depression, an indication that she may have been silent for years due to the ailment.

“I would park my car and get into a building and when I come out, I would look for it for hours, unable to remember where I parked. Sometimes, in the course of a conversation, someone would ask me where my son school is and it would take me a while to recall,” she told Eve Woman during an interview then.

This explains why she has been out of the game for years.

Then there is Evelyn Mutuku-Maina, 37, aka Henrie Mutuku who has been off the studios for a while.

Henrie, as commonly referred to, was a trailblazer in Kenya’s airwaves with her well-composed contemporary urban gospel music which was a new phenomenon in Kenya.

With her lyrical, yet melodious voice, she released her last album titled Tena in 2016. Though she has been off the airwaves, she has continued with preaching the gospel by virtue she is married to Charles Maina who is a youth pastor at Bururburu Baptist Church.

Lastly, questions linger as to where the popular gospel music trio, Gospel Fathers vanished to.

Famed for their Fundi Wa Mbao track released in mid-2000s, the music trio made up of Kera (George Kirangi), Ken (Kenneth Maina) and Samu (Samuel Njuguna) went separate ways in 2009. They had worked together for three years before disbanding the group.
