The Wiper Deputy Leader, Farah Maalim, is a renowned politician who served in different high influence positions in the country.
During last year's electioneering period, he battled it out with the majority leader in the national assembly Aden Duale for the Garissa parliamentary seat.
Unfortunately, the former speaker failed to unseat the incumbent, plunging him to five years of political cold.
Aggrieved with the outcome, the former Lagdera MP filed a petition in the court to challenge the victory but flopped after the high court judge upheld the victory of Duale on the ground that the election was conducted as required by the constitution.
Unsatisfied with the ruling of the High Court, he appealed, but withdrew a few days later after he reconciled with Duale for the ' sake of Garissa people '.
Nevertheless, the dormancy of the vibrant politician has raised more questions than answers recently, as pundits explain that he might structure his political future privately.
The only appearances that he has made are on live television panel discussions where he discusses political issues.
It is not clear whether he will run in 2022.
