Former Kiambu Women Representative Anne Nyokabi Gatheca has taken a quite political life after losing re-election in last year’s (2017) general election.
President Uhuru Kenyatta’s niece lost the seat to former radio personality Gathoni Wa Muchomba in the hotly contested election.
Nyokabi lost Jubilee party ticket before contesting as an independent candidate for the seat.
The politician has however taken a low political life that is worrying her supporters.
She has kept off the public and media cameras and no one knows her political whereabouts.
There were rumors that Nyokabi was among people Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko was considering nominating as his deputy.
However, the rumors turned false as Governor Sonko nominated Miguna Miguna as his deputy.
According to political analyst Peter Ngure, it will be hard for Nyokabi to make a political comeback.
“I think Nyokabi and some other Kiambu politicians who lost in last year’s election might never make it back to politics,” he said on Thursday.
The analyst however states that Nyokabi would be fit to deputize Sonko if given chance.
“She (Nyokabi) has the appetite to serve people and would have been a good choice for Sonko as Nairobi deputy governor,” he said.
The analyst however notes that Nyokabi will play a role in the 2022 succession politics though behind the scenes.
