Former vocal Nyali MP Hezron Awiti has gone silent after his bid to oust Mombasa governor Hassan Joho in last year's (2017) general election flopped.
Awiti, who quit Wiper Party and formed his own Development Party in the run up to last year's (2017) general election has remained silent and his silence is sending shivers among his supporters.
The former MP, a critic of Governor Joho fell out with Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka before last year's general election.
Awiti who traces his roots to Kendu Bay in Homa Bay in a recent interview said that he is strategizing.
The former MP said that Mombasa resident's erred in re-electing governor Hassan Joho who he claims lacks leadership qualities.
According to political analyst Peter Ngure, Awiti will be among Mombasa politician's lining up to succeed governor Joho in 2022.
"Awiti has a chance and will make another attempt for the Mombasa governor seat in 2022," he said.
Ngure argues that the 2022 Mombasa gubernatorial seat will be among the hotly contested seats.
Governor Joho is serving his last term and several politician's are lining up to succeed him.
