Where is Amani? Has anyone seen or heard about the Kenyan songstress?
Times have changed and new acts are getting into the Kenyan music industry. Many female singers are emerging. Names such as Fena Gitu, Avril, Sanaipei Tande, Wangeci, Patricia Kihoro, Sagini are on everyone's lips.
A few years ago, these names were unheard of save for Sanaipei Tande who got into the industry a little bit earlier.
There are those who came into the music scene a few years ago and are still producing songs. Nyota Ndogo, Nazizi, Susana Owiyo and Wahu have not left the scene. They might be lurking at the backstage but at least we still hear their songs.
Then there are those who left the scene and have since gone underground. They have disappeared completely.
Amani falls under this category. When history will be written, Amani's name will appear prominently. She is one of the few female musicians who left an indelible mark on the heart of many music lovers in Kenya.
Going by her real name, Cecilia Wairimu, Amani produced songs which became favorites among pop lovers.
Her song "Ninanoki" featuring Nameless still remains one of the biggest club bangers Kenya has ever had. Other singles that she produced inlcude; Tonight, Missing my baby and Tamani.
She recorded her songs with Ogopa Deejays record label.
She has collaborated with big names both locally and across the borders. In Kenya, she worked with artists such as Kleptomaniax and Big Pin. Across the borders, she has worked with Ali Kiba, AY, and Nigerian artist 2face Idibia.
