Ruth Adhiambo Odinga is the former Kisumu County Deputy governor.
She is the younger sister to National Super Alliance (NASA) Leader Raila Odinga, and former Bondo Member of Parliament (MP) Oburu Oginga.
Ms Odinga served under Jack Nyanungo Ranguma, the first Kisumu County governor elected in 2013.
Ahead of last year’s general elections, Ranguma dropped her as his running mate enhancing rumors that she was in the running for the Kisumu County governor’s post.
But ultimately, she did not vie for the seat in 2017 and instead supported ODM party flag bearer Professor Peter Anyang Nyong’o.
In 2013, she showed indications of vying for the post but ODM party top brass prevailed upon her to drop her bid and support Ranguma.
Ranguma and Ms Odinga’s tenure in the helm of Kisumu leadership was a turbulent one, with the leaders reading from different scripts on most occasions.
Since last year’s general elections, Ruth Odinga has been quiet. She is currently in charge of special programs at the Kisumu County government.
In November last year, Kisumu high court issued a warrant of arrest against Ms Odinga and Kisumu Senator Fred Otieno Outa for allegedly disrupting training for the Independent Electoral and Boundaries (IEBC) officials in Kisumu.
Ms Odinga remains quiet as questions continue to linger over her next political move.
