Former Higher Education and Agriculture Minister as well as Aldai constituency Member of Parliament Dr. Sally Kosgei has maintained a low profile away from the public pedestal in recent years.
Her last stint in the limelight is when she was listed as one of the high profile individuals implicated in the ‘paradise papers expose’ where public officials allegedly sheltered wealth in offshore accounts to escape public scrutiny, in November last year.
Kosgei launched her political career when she was elected to represent Aldai constituency in the 2007 elections on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket. She had previously served in the public service as the Permanent Secretary in the Office of the President, Secretary to the Cabinet and Head of Civil Service in both former president’s Daniel Moi and Mwai Kibaki's’ governments.
The Alliance girls high school alumni was among the eight Jubilee Rift Valley politicians who decamped to opposition NASA in the run-up to the 2017 elections and campaigned for NASA’s presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga in the region.
She also served as Kenya’s high commissioner in the United Kingdom (UK) between 1986 and 1992.
Dr. Kosgei currently serves as the chancellor of Taita Taveta university.
