Long absence of one of the seven Supreme Court judge from the bench has triggered questions.
The questions on whereabouts of Justice Mohammed Ibrahim arise as his colleagues are expected to deliver verdict on presidential election petition on Monday (today).
Justice Ibrahim last appeared in the top court during the hearing of first petition filed by Opposition leader Raila Odinga.
He only attended only one session in the petition that challenged the election of President Uhuru Kenyatta's win during the August 8 presidential election.
Chief Justice David Maraga explained his absence saying he had been taken ill.
Sources at the top court confided in the Sunday Nation that the senior most judge of the Supreme Court after Chief Justice David Maraga and Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu is still undergoing treatment at a hospital in South Africa.
"He is still in hospital in South Africa where he has been undergoing treatment all this time, he is in and out of hospital," the source said.
Another source who sought anonymity also told the local daily that Justice Ibrahim accepted to seek treatment after he was persuaded by a top government official who is related to him.
The long-serving judge had insisted on sitting through Raila's petition despite the fact that he was seriously ill.
