Uhuru Kenyatta 

President Uhuru Kenyatta attended St Mary’s School in Nairobi where he was exemplary in his school work. Apart from classwork, the president played as a winger in the school’s rugby team. 

He was particularly good in English, and he attained a distinction, attaining a general Division 1 in his final exams. 

He was also passionate about drama and even participated in a Comic Opera The Mikadoas father with child. 

He later joined Amherst College, USA to study Political Science and Economics. He graduated in 1985. 

He is a football fan. 

 

Raila Odinga 

Arguably the strongest opponent for President Kenyatta in this year’s election, Raila Odinga attended Kisumu Union for his primary education. 

He then joined Maranda Primary before finishing his high school education in 1962 at Maranda High School. 

He went on to study at Leipzig University in East Germany before receiving a scholarship to study Engineering at the Technical School. 

 

Musalia Mudavadi 

Born in 1960 in Sabatia, Vihiga District, attended Nairobi Primary School in his early days. 

The former Deputy Prime Minister then joined Nairobi School where he did his A levels exams. 

He joined University of Nairobi and did undergraduate in Bachelor of Arts, Land Economics, before completing his Masters in Land Economics from the same institution. 

During his years at the University of Nairobi, Mudavadi was an astute rugby player, turning out for Mean Machine – the university’s rugby club. 

 

Moses Wetangula 

Born in 1956 in Sirisia, Moses Wetangula attended Nalondo Primary School in his early days before joining Busakala Secondary School. 

He later moved to Teremi Secondary School and later joined Friends School Kamusinga where he did his secondary level exams. 

The former Sirisia Constituency MP joined University of Nairobi where he graduated with a Bachelor of Law (LLB) degree. 

 

William Ruto 

William Samoei Ruto was born in Kamagut, Uasin Gishu to the late Mzee Daniel Cheruiyot and Mama Sarah Cheruiyot. 

The second in command in the Jubilee government attended Kerotet Primary School for his primary education before joining Wareng Secondary school for his secondary education. 

He also attended Kapsabet boys for his A levels. 

He later joined University of Nairobi and graduated in 1990 with BSc in Botany and Zoology. 

He was ranked the best student in his class at the university and was awarded a Master’s Degree to study in the same university. 

He was a staunch AIC member and was elected a Christian Union (CU) leader during his time. 

 

Kalonzo Musyoka 

Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, leader of Wiper Party was born in 1953. Attended Tseikuru Primary School up to 1967 before joining Kitui High School for his O levels. 

The former Vice President later joined Meru High School for his A levels. He went to the University of Nairobi for his Undergraduate in Law. 

He went to the Kenya School of Law for his Diploma, then joined Graduate Student of Mediterranean Institute of Management for a Diploma in Business Management. 

He started Pupillage and as Legal Assistant at Kaplan and Stratton Advocate.
