During their nation address following President Uhuru Kenyatta's win in the repeat presidential election, NASA leaders vowed never to recognise Kenyatta even if he is sworn in.
In his speech, coalition leader Raila Odinga said there are two people in Kenya who will not be allowed to 'destroy the dream of freedom' of Kenyans.
He called them megalomaniacs.
“We will not allow two MEGALOMANIACS to destroy the dream of freedom and democracy that generations have sacrificed and worked so hard for,” he added.
According to the Cambridge dictionary, megalomania is "an unnaturally strong wish for power and control, or the belief that you are much more important and powerful than you really are".
A megalomaniac therefore is a "is a pathological egotist, that is, someone with a psychological disorder with symptoms like delusions of grandeur and an obsession with power".
Put is the simple way, a megalomaniac is a person who has an obsessive desire for power and suffers delusions of their own importance.
Now we might not know the people Raila was talking about, but we at least know what the word means.
