Ali Bunow Korane's popularity in Garissa reached its peak during the pre-election gubernatorial campaigns in 2013.
Korane is a native politician who has been giving Governor Nathif Jama sleepless nights on the thought of 2017 campaigns.
Since his eminent failure to grasp the Garissa gubernatorial seat in 2013 elections, Korane has disappeared out of the political limelight, with reports indicating that he is gradually warming up for the seat come 2017.
The controversial Korane ran against the sitting county Governor Jama, but failed to hold the seat by a slight margin.
It is alleged that immediately the IEBC declared Jama’s win in the gubernatorial race, Korane fled the country for Johannesburg, South Africa. However, prior to the official announcement of the CS key appointments by President Uhuru Kenyatta, Korane jetted back to Nairobi to seek political support from Aden Duale, the Garissa township legislator so that he could at least get a government position, a dream that died a natural death.
Korane was rewarded with the position of State House comptroller but rejected the offer with his grassroots supporters applauding the decision saying that their former DC of the former Garissa District can never be a Statehouse butler.
Regarding his political future, the elite community elders of the Abduwaq clan, which Korane hails from, have vowed to endorse him to run for the gubernatorial seat in 2017.
