When Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi and Ford-Kenya party leader Moses Wetang’ula skipped the swearing-in of National Super Alliance principal Raila Odinga as the people’s president at Uhuru Park on January 30th, they were labelled betrayers. In fact Kalonzo was called a watermelon.
ODM party leaders were unhappy with this act of “betrayal” by the three NASA co-principals that they demanded an explanation as to why the three skipped the swearing-in.
Referring indirectly to the three, Mombasa County governor said, “Na muache kuwa waoga” (stop being cowards) during a recent ODM party meeting.
In the headlines earlier this week, Raila Odinga is quoted as having said he is suspecting betrayal from his closest ally. Before the end of the week, tables turned upside down when the news emerged that it is Raila Odinga who betrayed his three co-principals on the day of swearing-in.
That he instructed the three to switch off their phones and then he later appeared alone at Uhuru Park for the swearing-in.The same week, he met president Uhuru Kenyatta and said that he is ready to work with the president to end the problems that are facing Kenya.
Moses Wetang’ula, speaking on the Uhuru-Raila meeting, said that he was not informed of the meeting. Did Raila Odinga go ahead to meet the president without informing his co-principals? Who exactly is betraying who?Raila Odinga is the man to clear the air on this paradox. He should tell Kenyans exactly what is going on in NASA and whether he still have plans to push ahead with the National Resistance Movement’s agenda. Supporters of NASA are completely lost.
