An MP has accused a Senator of being part of a team that is blocking Deputy President William Ruto from meeting former President Daniel Arap Moi.
Caleb Kipkemei Kositany (Soi, Jubilee) on Wednesday claimed Baringo Senator and son to the former head of state Gideon Moi is responsible for Ruto's failure to meet Kenya's second president.
Speaking in Eldoret town, the MP said Senator Moi is working alongside a host of MPs from Rift Valley who are against Ruto's 2022 presidential quest to frustrate the DP.
"The deputy president has made numerous calls to the former head of state to meet him but to no avail," Kositany said.
"He (Ruto) has made attempts to meet the former president but no effort has yielded fruit. Raila only made one phone call and he was invited to a meeting. Senator Moi should play cool and allow the DP meet Mr Moi."
Raila's meeting with the senior Moi has elicited a mixed reaction from across the political divide with political analysts claiming that the meeting was meant to craft a plan that will culminate in blocking Ruto's presidential bid in 2022.
Raila has so far met President Uhuru Kenyatta as well as former President Moi.
