He is also the former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) president. But who is Erick Okong'o Omogeni?

Born in 1970 in Nyamira division of the then Kisii district, he attended Tinderet Primary School, then moved to Kericho Primary and later to Shauri Moyo in Kisumu where he sat his Certificate of Primary Education (CPE) in 1983.

In 1984, Okong'o joined Isabania Secondary School where he sat his 'O' levels in 1987. A year later, he joined Kabianga High School for his 'A' levels which he completed in 1989.

The senior counsel graduated from the University of Nairobi in 1993 with a bachelor of law degree.

Omogeni was elected LSK president in 2007 a post he held until 2010. He has also served as a member of Media Council of Kenya and also chaired the defunct Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission Advisory Board.

In 2012, President Mwai Kibaki made him a senior counsel. O'mogeni ventured into politics in 2013 where he contested for the Nyamira senatorial seat on an ODM ticket which he lost to the incumbent Ford Kenya's Kennedy Okong'o Mongare.

After being floored in the elections, he went back to class at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology for masters degree in governance and leadership.

And now O'mogeni is upbeat he will be the next Nyamira Senator come 2017.
