Born on September 19, 1969, at Meru, Kajuju is an alumnus of University of Nairobi (UoN) where she graduated in 1992 with a Bachelors Degree in Law.

She is not new to leadership as she is a former vice chairperson of Law Society of Kenya (LSK).

Before joining politics, Kajuju was an advocate of the High Court.

During her campaigns, she overcame all odds to win against the strong Kiraitu Murungi's party Alliance Party of Kenya (APK) in Meru. She was the first woman to hold an elective position in the now Meru county since 1974 and has vowed to defend it in next year’s election.

Kajuju is a former classmate to the embattled Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairman Isaack Hassan, former Law Society of Kenya Chairman Eric Mutua and Water and Irrigation Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa.

She came into the limelight in 2014 after miraa farmers risked loosing market for the product in the international market like Britain.

Kajuju says she was irked when she later learnt from a national survey that Meru was one of the counties with the low fertility rates due to the use of the drug, especially with men.

She was quoted saying in parliament, “Our youths are badly affected by kabondi and no effort should be spared to rescue them. We need them to develop this county,” she added.

“Those white men who claim miraa chewers are poor in bed should bring their women to Meru and they will see just how good our warriors are!”

Kajuju says the new IEBC rules that aims at capping the politicians' spending during campaign as something not achievable.

She is married to David Gitonga and says she often creates time for her family.
