Nyali MP Hezron Awiti who was born in Mombasa traces his ancestral roots to a village in Kendu Bay, Homa Bay County.
He was elected in 2013 to the legislative post on a Wiper Party ticket.
After being sworn in, Awiti was absorbed into two House committees; Departmental Committee on Agriculture, Livestock and Cooperatives, and House Committee on Lands and Natural Resources.
Hezron Awiti was first elected to Parliament in 2013 as the Nyali legislator.
Prior to the last general elections, Awiti was blocked from vying on a ODM ticket, after he won during the party primaries and opted to shift to the Wiper party which later earned him his current role in the National Assembly.
Awiti has declared that he will run for the Mombasa gubernatorial seat on a Wiper ticket in the 2017 polls.
However, this decision did not sit well with Governor Hassan Joho's supporters who have since advised him to drop his ambitions in favor of the latter.
Awiti found himself in the list of 'laziest' MPs who did not speak in 2015 during house proceedings.
