Kisauni MP Rashid Bedzimba served as the Councilor for Mjambere Ward prior to his election to the legislative post in 2013.
He was elected to the legislative house on an ODM ticket, which is now under the Cord Coalition.
In the National Assembly, Bedzimba serves under two house committees; Committee on Power and Privileges, and the Departmental House Committee on National Security and Administration.
Bedzimba is currently facing mounting pressure from Ali Mbogo, who seeks to unseat him in the 2017 elections.
Mbogo is seemingly enjoying massive support from the Kisauni electorate, and is presumed to deal a serious political blow to the incumbent.
The MP has found himself in controversial situations several times with questions emerging over his alleged silence on illegal intrusion of private lands by local youth in Bamburi.
This prompted Coast regional commander Nelson Marwa to issue a statement saying Bedzimba should “come out clearly on the matter”.
Bedzimba has already announced that he will defend his current elective position under the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party led by Raila Odinga.
