Rosemary Odinga is publicly known as eldest daughter of Cord opposition chief, Raila Odinga.
She could also be the next MP of Kibera after Ken Okoth come 2017.
Little is known on the pressures behind her political intentions but it is alleged that friends, family members and relatives have been exerting pressure on her to venture into elective politics in 2017 and not later, as she had planned following the death Fidel Odinga, her elder brother.
Rosemary deals with a snail business, a venture she developed in 2009 as a hobby before becoming a full time business initiative. She learnt the practice from the former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo.
“He is the one who actually challenged me to focus on farming. He convinced me with the snail farming and I promised to do something back at home,” she said.
Just like other politicians, she has at one time found herself at the receiving end of the public anger. This happened in Tanzania when she claimed Olduvai Gorge belonged to Kenya, a statement that angered Tanzanians so much they called on her to make a public apology.
Back to Kibera, her famous activities are among the Ficha Uchi campaign, an exercise targeted at clothing school going kids.
Rosemary is yet to make public her political bid for the Kibera constituency which her father held for two terms before getting into national politics.
