Samuel Kiprono Chepkonga is the current MP for Ainabkoi constituency, Uasin Gishu County. He was elected into his present legislative role under the URP ticket.
Chepkonga has a good track record having spoken 131 times and also sponsoring six bills in Parliament, among them being the Matrimonial Property Bill, 2013.
The Ainabkoi legislator is viewed favorably and highly ranked owing to his recent rise in the public’s esteem. His constituents, however, say he scores way down below average on local presence and accessibility as he is said to have deserted his constituents.
Many people outside his Ainabkoi constituency know and remember Chepkonga as the face behind the bill that sought to bar aspiring MPs and MCAs without academic degrees and diplomas respectively out of the 2017 political race.
This bill, however, earned him much criticism from the less schooled politicians who termed the move as a witch-hunt.
Being one of the very close allies to DP Rutto, Chepkonga was among the high profile individuals that fought to get him out of the jaws of ICC. He even exploited his position as the Chair of Justice and Legal Affairs to compel Justice Waki to table their report findings in a bid to get the faces behind DP Rutto's ICC fixture deals.
And as the 2017 election period draws nearer, Samuel Chepkonga has already hinted on defending his seat under the Jubilee Party.
