Justice Isaac Lenaola was born in Samburu County on December 21, 1967. Lenaola attended St. Mary’s Nursery School in Maralal in 1973 and later joined Maralal D.E.B. Primary School in 1974 before moving to Baragoi Primary School where he sat for his C.P.E examinations.
Between 1981-1986, he enrolled at Alliance High School for his O-Levels studies and A-levels and was awarded the Gandhi Smarak Nidhi Award for his exemplary performance.
Justice Isaac Lenaola was then admitted to the University of Nairobi for to study LLB (Bachelor of Laws) studies and graduated with a Second Class Honours Upper Division in 1990.
He then joined the Kenya School of Law in 1990 and was admitted to the Bar the following year. He would later work with Rimui & Mubia Advocates as an Associate Advocate after his pupilage before he became a Partner and Head of the Litigation Department at the firm of Maina Wachira & Company Advocates until 2003.
He also served as a Commissioner in the merged Constitution of Kenya Review Commission (CKRC) in the period between 2001 and 2004.
On October 28, 2003, Justice Lenaola was appointed as a High Court judge after serving as a Resident Judge in Embu, Meru, Machakos and Kakamega.
He also served as a Commissioner in the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) between the year 2010 and 2013.
Justice Isaac Lenaola has been serving as the presiding judge of the Constitution and Human Rights Division of the High Court until his nomination on Tuesday as a Supreme Court Judge to replace retired Judge Philip Tunoi.
