Victor Munyaka is the sitting MP for Machakos Town, Machakos county. He was elected to the 11th Parliament under Chama Cha Uzalendo party ticket after failing to secure nomination in Kalonzo's Wiper party.
Munyaka has served in the capacity for two consecutive terms after he clinched the Same post in 2007 on Raila's ODM party ticket.
In the eleventh Assembly, Hon Munyaka is a member of the House committee on Business and also the member of Departmental Committee on Agriculture, Livestock and Co-operatives.
Before his popular entry to the scene of elective politics, Victor Munyaka was a renowned and successful businessman who operated an agro-vet business centre in Machakos town bearing the name Ngelani Agrochemicals LTD. He is a professionally trained veterinarian.
In his Ukambani region, Munyaka is one of the biggest rivals of the local kingpin Kalonzo Musyoka.
The two politicians seem to be reading from separate scripts. Trouble began when the Machakos legislator failed to secure nomination under the Wiper party prior to the 2013 elections. Munyaka accused Musyoka of deserting him at his hour of need.
Munyaka's politics never missed a word of advice for governor Alfred Mutua. In September 2015, the Machakos Town legislator was quoted severally by the media urging Mutua to quit Wiper party so as to avoid the humiliation the party leader was almost subjecting on him.
“I urge governor Mutua to quit this Wiper party, a party that has run short of ideas and only targets it’s members championing development for the people,” Munyaka was quoted.
Since his fallout with Kalonzo, Munyaka has never reversed to the party and regarding the 2017 elections, it is unclear if he will still remain in his opposition coalition or he will join the ruling Jubilee.
