Wilfred Moriasi Ombui is a former member of Parliament for North Mugirango/Borabu constituency, a seat he held from 2007 until 2012.
In the 2013 polls, he contested the North Mugirango parliamentary seat on a TNA ticket but lost to the incumbent, Charles Mongare Geni of ODM.
Ombui hails from Boisanga sub-location in Nyamira North sub-county of Nyamira County.
A teacher by profession, he was the chairman of the Gusii Mwalimu Sacco.
It is due to his service to teachers in the region that he got great support during the 2007 general election.
During his tenure as the North Mugirango/Borabu MP, Ombui is credited with the establishment of Ekerubo Gietai Technical Institute.
During the the 2013 general election, he spearheaded campaigns for TNA in both North Mugirango and West Mugirango constituencies.
The former teacher is expected to face stiff competition for the North Mugirango seat from MP Geni, Nyamira County Assembly Speaker Joash Nyamoko who has said he will vie for the post on the Jubilee Alliance Party ticket.
Other competitors from Ombui’s home Boisanga, is Jason Mosinga.
