Embattled Auditor General Edward Ouko has alleged that there is a plot by the National Assembly under the parliamentary commitee for Trade and Financeto hound him out of office unprocedurally.
In an address to the media on Thursday, Ouko said he read malice in the manner the petition seeking his removal was handled, claiming that it was hastened in a record one day instead of seven days as outlined in the constitution, the Daily Nation has reported.
“Overall, and as variously raised during the Proceedings, we are gravely concerned at the conduct of the proceedings which clearly run contrary to the Constitution, the FairAdministrative Action Act and the rules of natural justice," he said.
"While I had dutifully complied by filing a response complete with annexures and by appearing before the Committee, it is apparent the Committee is committed to find against me at all costs for the additional reasons that the Committee insisted that must take responsibility as the Accounting Officer for acts of omissions of my entire staff,” he added.
The petitioner accused Ouko of gross misconduct and abuse of office.
