In a paid advertisement on Monday, the party invited applications from eligible candidates for all elective positions.

"We invite eligible Kenyans to present their expression of interests in confidence to the national election board," the Star quoted Eddie Kivuvani, Kanu's election board chair.

The announcement comes just weeks after the party's secretary general Nick Salat announced that Kanu will back the opposition, National Super Alliance (NASA), in the next general election.

Speaking during the opposition meeting at the Bomas of Kenya on January 11, Salat said the party had resolved to join forces with NASA.

Following the Monday announcement, Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, who is Kanu's chairman, is highly tipped to fly the party's presidential flag.
