Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua on Friday said the county government has been unable to get a new cemetery because of lack of land to buy. He noted that the devolved unit had set aside money to buy land for more cemeteries in Nakuru town but it was hard to get a site. He announced this after a section of residents demanded to know why his government was not concerned about the lack of burying space in the urban centre. The residents raised concerns at a live TV show hosted by ace presenter Jeff Koinange, which addresses burning issues affecting Kenyans across counties. They said they were disappointment over the current state of the two cemeteries in the town. The governor replied: “We have the money but we are still looking for land at an appropriate site. I request residents to help us identify ideal places for building new cemetery grounds. Anyone willing to sell us their land is welcome." Mbugua urged residents to bear with the government as it tries to sort out the matter and promised that things would change for the better as soon as the county government finds ideal sites for cemeteries.
