Kalonzo says the Wafula Chebukati led electoral commission cannot be trusted to conduct another general election.

According to Kalonzo, the electoral agency has to be disbanded in order to have credible polls in 2022.

Addressing the press in Nairobi on Sunday, Kalonzo said internal wars between the commission's chairperson and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ezra Chiloba is a clear indication that the commission is in total mess.

The former Vice President said the push for electoral reforms should involve reconstituting the commission.

"We cannot go to the 2022 general election with the current IEBC top officials in office, we pray that the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga will result to a new electoral commission," Kalonzo said.

Kalonzo said Kenyans have no confidence in the commission.

He said the Chebukati led commission failed Kenyans in last year's presidential election.

The opposition is pushing for electoral reforms with reconstitution of the IEBC top on agenda.

This comes as internal war among the IEBC top officials continue to be witnessed.

Last year before the October 26 repeat presidential polls, commissioner Rosylne Akombe resigned, stating that she could not be part of a team which had been infiltrated by external forces.

Akombe claimed that IEBC was not independent to conduct the October 26, repeat presidential polls.

Last week, Chebukati sent Chiloba on compulsory leave over issues relating to tenders.

Chiloba's bid to quash the suspension suffered a blow after the Labor and Industrial court okayed Chebukati's decision to send him on compulsory leave.
