( photo/ mygov.com)In the annals of Kenyan history, no year, in my opinion, will go down as the most eventful in the entire period since independence as the year that has ended, 2017. The year had its strange twists with Judge David Maraga's unprecedented decision of annulling a Presidential election topping the list. Maraga's decision not only shocked Kenya, but it equally shook the entire African continent with some hailing the brave move while others condemned it as a rush decision that had serious ramifications. The decision raised the political temperatures in the Country to furnace levels. NASA could not hide its joy as it celebrated the new hero in town, Judge Maraga.Jubilee Party on the other hand felt disappointed. They however promised to bounce back on the repeat poll to confirm their win. NASA reiterated that it will trounce Uhuru. However, another shocker awaited the nation; a few days to the repeat poll, the only opposition candidate in the race, Raila Amolo Odinga, unexpectedly withdrew from the race creating an unprecedented crisis in the entire Kenyan history. Kenya was on the edge. People were unsure of what would happen and a permanent Makonde-mask of fear became the trademark of Kenya's political face. It took the intervention of the courts to allow other candidates like Ekuro Aukot to save Kenya from this Armageddon situation. As we usher in 2018, we should not forget how much God loves Kenya. He has persistently led us through difficult times. He has persistently saved us from near precipice situations because He loves this country much.
