Opposition leader Raila Odinga will find himself at the center of that political contest.

What was expected  by many to be an easy ride for Suba South MP John Mbadi who is seen by many as a front runner for the seat may not be so as Homa Bay Women Rep Gladys Wanga is rumoured to be eyeing the seat.

In the recent meeting in the county, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria endorsed the vocal female lawmaker for the top seat in 2022.

Both Wanga and Mbadi have Raila's ear and with both keen to succeed Governer Cyprian Awiti, then the former Prime Minister may be forced to intervene.

To further complicate the duo's political jigsaw is the former Kasipul MP Oyugi Magwanga factor who successful challenged Awiti's win in 2017. What if Magwanga wins the by-election in case Awiti's appeal is dismissed?

Boasting an impressive development record during his tenure as an MP, the former Kasipul MP is a real political force. And riding on advantage of incumbency in 2022, what will become of Wanga and Mbadi? And what will Raila do to save them?
