Garissa political activist Christine Sholen has noted that a Ruto-Duale government will not be an ideal government for Kenya.
The analyst says that the two leaders cannot work hand in hand noting that each of them is autonomous.
She noted that it will take a short time before the two fall out with each other.
“The way Aden Duale fell out with Raila is what will happen between Duale and Ruto should he become his running mate,” she states.
She reveals that Duale is not the kind to take orders and will fall out with his superior which she says will throw the country into political furore which will not be a good thing.
“You can imagine the president falling out with his deputy. What kind of government will that be? A government where both the president and the deputy want to be autonomous in their orders,” she says.
She says that is the reason Duale has been an efficient Majority leader.
“The Jubilee government led by Uhuru Kenyatta has known how to deal with Duale. Giving him his field where he can lead and not having to work under anybody which makes him an effective leader. Ruto, on the other hand, experiences characteristics such as that of Duale, authoritarian leadership which does not make them compatible they will easily fall out on governance issues,” she states.
Sholen notes that Uhuru-Ruto presidency is effective since Uhuru is not very authoritarian and can easily work with Ruto.
“Uhuru is not very authoritarian. He can easily work with both Duale and Ruto. He is more accommodative in his leadership and that is the reason he has been successful so far with Ruto,” She notes.
Christine, however, prefers a Ruto-Mudavadi or a Ruto-Kalonzo government says that can easily work out.
“On the contrary, a successful beneficial government would be ideal if Ruto considers either Mudavadi or Kalonzo as his deputies and not Duale,” She says.
