Budalang'i MP Ababu Namwamba has challenged Opposition alliance NASA to reconsider their plan to set up a parallel tallying centre during the forthcoming general elections.
Speaking on Tuesday during the swearing in of the Labour Party of Kenya national elections board, the LPK leaderleader warned that the plan throw the country into anarchy.
Namwamba further added that NASA was undermining electoral agency IEBC, which he argued that it is the only body mandated to conduct elections.
"We are telling our friends in Nasa and others out there to respect the IEBC and focus on going out to get votes," he noted.
"We had the mantra of 'IEBC must go' and now we have a new IEBC. Jameni kwani utatoshelezwa na nini (What makes you satisfied)?" He posed.
A defiant NASA has vowed to continue with the plan, observing that the plan seeks to ensure that election results announced by IEBC are accurate enough.
"IEBC will announce their results … and we as NASA will announce ours from our tallying centre for comparison. We will not accept fake results," Opposition leader Raila Odinga said on Sunday.
