It was widely expected that the Ababu Namwamba chaired party will announce the candidate it will be backing on Saturday after a retreat in Nakuru.

According to party secretary general, David Makali, deliberations on the best candidate were still ongoing during the retreat that will last three days.

It is expected that the party will give a formal statement on Sunday.

:"The three days retreat is meant to allow the party leadership discuss its election strategies, campaign program, nomination nad support for the party candidates at all levels," said Makali.

Makali further added that the party will be fielding candidates in various positions ahead of the August polls.
