Activist Okiya Omtatah has moved to court to block electoral body IEBC from awarding auditing firm KPMG tender for voters register clean up.
In a petition filed before Milimani law courts on Monday, Omtatah claimed that the awarding of the tender was unfair, discriminatory and arbitrary.
“The decision by the IEBC is unfair, discriminatory, arbitrary, inconsistent and capricious,” he noted.
“The purported stakeholders meeting convened by the respondents to discuss the implications of the new election laws and audit of the voter register did not meet the threshold for the consultation and public participation contemplated under the Constitution,’’ the petition further reads in part.
Through lawyer Apollo Mboya, Omtatah further noted that auditing of the voters register is pivotal to the enjoyment of the political rights as outlined under Article 38 of the constitution.
The High Court had earlier dismissed a similar petition filed by the Opposition challenging the KMPG tender.
