It was Zapata’s only victory since taking charge having seen victories too hard to come by in the previous two matches.

"I am very proud of my boys giving me my first win that has pleased everyone especially the supporters,” Zapata told journalists in a post-match interview.

Ingwe has had lots of problems in the past coupled with near misses and failing to break the monotony of Gor Mahia’s dominance for the past couple of years.

Intriguingly, Ingwe’s next opponent in the league is Gor Mahia but the match has been placed under serious jeopardy with constant battles on where the venue for the match will be.

It had been decided that the match was to take place at Bukhungu stadium but FKF president publicly said no to that and furthermore called the venue ‘funny.'

This prompted a backlash from Ingwe heads who insisted the match shall go on and even threatened to not release their players for the upcoming friendly matches against EquitorialGuinea and Swaziland slated for May 26 and 28.

The win means AFC Leopards now occupy the fourth position in the standings.
