Malindi Township MP Aisha Jumwa could be the next Coast region political king-pin after Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho.
According to political analyst Peter Ngure, Jumwa has the political muscles to succeed Joho as the Coastal political leader.
The political pundit argues that Jumwa is politically vocal and has confidence that poises her as the region’s next political leader.
“Aisha Jumwa is among the women politician's who have fearlessly stamped their political authority and she could be the Coast region political kingpin in the coming future,” he said.
In an interview on Wednesday, Ngure said that the Malindi Town MP popularity is steadily rising ahead of the 2022 general election.
He said that Jumwa’s recent endorsement of Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 bid was well calculated and could amplify her political career moving forward.
Jumwa is serving as gist time MP elected on ODM party ticket.
She was elected in 2013 as Kilifi woman representative on the Orange ticket before contesting for the MP seat in last year’s polls.
Currently, Governor Joho who is serving his last term is considered as Coast political kingpin.
On Sunday, Jumwa maintained that DP Ruto is the ideal candidate to succeed president Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.
