We will be biased not to acknowledge the fact that President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election has dented Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka’s Presidential dream. However, Kalonzo still stands a chance of rising to power in 2022.
The Ukambani political kingpin’s future depends on how well he will play his cards in the next five years. Kalonzo can use the next five years to reach to other communities that did not back National Super Alliance (NASA) Presidential candidate, Raila Amolo Odinga to inform them about the need to change the leadership of this nation. Kalonzo has to convince these communities that he is still the best man they can entrust the leadership of this country as the president.
Kalonzo also has an option of abandoning Raila to join Jubilee in whichever position, deputize Ruto in 2022 on condition that he rules for one term, and leave for his on 2027. Although Kalonzo will be aging he can rule this nation even in his late 70’s once the Kalenjin leader retires from politics when that time comes. Kalonzo will only be safe if he signs a Memorandum of Understanding with Ruto so that he leaves power for his.
