Distinguished Scholar Makau Mutua now says Supreme Court Judges have no option other than to pronounce their rulings separately.

On Friday, seven Supreme Court judges are expected to make a ruling on the presidential petition that was filed by Raila Odinga.

And Mutua says the ruling should be in depth to restore transparency and dignity in the judiciary for the sake of future generations.

“For the purpose of accountability in the Supreme Court of Kenya, the judgment must show how each judge ruled,” says Mutua, a perennial critic of Uhuru Kenyatta.

He further says:” Courts everywhere including the Supreme Court of the United Sates do so. That is the basic undertaking in courts.”

Four years ago, retired Chief Justice Willy Mutunga shocked the entire nation when he delivered a three minutes ruling in a similar petition.

But Justice David Maraga said during the petition that Kenyans should expect a ‘detailed and comprehensive’ judgment.
