All school buses will now be required to be in yellow with the institution names written in black.
The buses will also have other signage as may be required.
This will be in the wide array of changes that aims at enhancing safety.
These new regulations are part of the Traffic (Amendment) Bill 2016 that was passed in Parliament on Wednesday and is pending presidential assent.
According to the Bill, a vehicle meant to ferry school children for any school or non-school related activity shall be fixed with safety belts to be used by children.
All vehicles approaching learning institutions shall be driven at a speed of not more than 50km per hour.
Also, all the buses will be stopped from operating in the period between 10pm and 5am.
The Bill sponsored by Laisamis MP Joseph Lekuton will also safeguard the lives of all pupils who sometimes get themselves in hands of rogue drivers.
