A section of the Amani National Congress leaders and supporters have vowed to ensure that the party's leader Musalia Mudavadi is named the NASA presidential flag bearer.

The delegates and aspirants largely drawn from the Western Kenya region argued that Mudavadi had played a pivotal role in the formation of the political alliance, and therefore deserved to be named the outfit's flag bearer.

He further observed that the Luhya Community had backed other communities before for the top seat, adding that it was the community's time to be backed.

"We are tired of supporting other people and communities. It is our time to contest for the top seat," noted Martin Waliaula, ANC Secretary Bungoma County.

"We do not want anything except the presidency. CORD should produce one person to be either president or deputy but not to claim all the top seats," he added.

With just four months into the polls, NASA is still grappling on who to field as a presidential candidate.

Other candidates who are interested in the alliance's ticket include: Raila Odinga (ODM), Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper) and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula (Ford Kenya).
