Angry youth in Mpeketoni, Lamu county are said to have stoned an ODM Coast delegation, led by Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho, Saturday.
They were on a campaign trail to popularise Raila Odinga's ODM party, and the National Super Alliance (Nasa) coalition, by criticising the ruling Jubilee government.
The angry youths, believed to be Jubilee supporters barricaded roads, and hurled unripe mangoes to the delegation, singing pro-Jubilee slogans.
They criticised Joho's team, saying they fully supported president Uhuru Kenyatta, since his administration had delivered.
"We will not allow anybody to disrespect our president. We are fully behind him, and nothing will make us change our minds. If you want us to respect you and your campaigns, respect the president first,'' one of the locals said.
Joho's team however continued with rallies in other Lamu areas such as Mkunguni Square, Mkunumbi, Witu, and Mokowe.
