News of Tiaty MP Asman Kamama quitting Jubilee Party to join Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua's Maendeleo Chap Chap came as a  surprise to many in the ruling party.

However, fresh analysis from political pundits at The Star has revealed that there is more than what meets the eyes in the Kamama departure from a party that accorded him the position of a chairman of the powerful National Assembly Security Committee.

According to the hypothesis, the Tiaty lawmaker apparently ditched Jubilee because he believes he has fallen out of favor with Jubilee and may be denied the party ticket in the August 8, elections.

Another reason was the spotlight that has been put on him after his close associates were arrested over killing two politicians, the late Pepe Kitambaa (Tiaty MP aspirant) and Kibet Cheretei (Loyamorok MCA).
