Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli stunned viewers during the Jeff Koinage Live show when he said he is prepared to die.
Atwoli, an outspoken trade unionist said the role he has played in transforming society (not only in Kenya) is immense and the only thing he is waiting for is death. He said at his age he's no longer attracted to material things which he claimed have drawn many into sinning and going against society's will."The only thing I am waiting for is death. I am ready to die. I am ready to die even now," Atwoli said when asked by Jeff Koinange, the show's host, whether he thinks his contribution in changing society positively is tangible."What else do I need on this earth? I have lead people, I have positively impacted on individual lives, I have raised people and I fully feel I've played my part,” he added. He said he will always live a happy man but, however, said one thing that makes his "heart bleed" is the tribal politics the country has embraced."We are one country and it is not criminal to live as brothers and sisters," he said."If there is one thing that will delay our resolve to achieve our goals as a country, then it's the nature of our politics,” he added.Atwoli said he will support ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi's quest to ascend to the presidency in 2022.
