With battle lines already drawn in the run up to the 2022 presidential polls, controversial Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has finally weighed in on what he hopes will transpire then.
Speaking to Radio Maisha on Tuesday, the former University of Nairobi student leader said that he would like to see Raila Odinga in the ballot in 2022 despite the veteran politician showing little indication of the same.
" We all know that in 2022 I will be the governor of Nairobi. It would however be interesting to see a Baba- Babu arrangement," he said in an apparent reference to an Odinga's presidency and his governorship of the capital city.
The youthful legislator also weighed in on the dynasty- politics that is gaining momentum in the country saying that it was unfortunate that someone should be locked out merely because he is deemed an 'outsider'.
" Personally I don't think that is how we should be doing our politics. It would be unfair for someone to be edged out simply because he is a son to a nobody. I don't support it," he said.
Speculations abound that deputy president William Ruto who is poised to succeed Uhuru Kenyatta as the next president could be kept at bay by machinations allegedly engineered by Nasa leader Raila Odinga, Uhuru himself and former president Daniel Arap Moi all of whom have the 'royalty tags' hanging around their necks.
