A section of Baringo County residents have vowed to boycott Deputy President William Ruto's tour of the region on Friday, the Star has reported.
Led by Knut Baringo branch executive chair Joshua Cheptarus, the residents accused the Jubilee administration of failing to adequately address cases of insecurity in the area, indicating that they will instead attend the burial of a teacher who was killed by Pokot bandits in the ongoing clashes in the area.
"We have already lost six people including two teachers. We are expecting President Uhuru Kenyatta himself to come and address the serious issue - not his deputy," Chepatarus noted on Thursday.
"It will take the heart and spirit of the President himself to come and restore the trust of Baringo residents," he continued.
Opposition leader Raila Odinga has also hit out at the Jubilee administration regarding the state of security in Kerio Valley, accusing it of failing to protect Kenyans.
