The billionaires who have been funding Raila Odinga want him to step out of the presidential race for fear that he might not beat President Uhuru Kenyatta in the August general election.
The NASA sponsors, mainly from the Mount Kenya region, feel that a contest between Raila Odinga and Uhuru Kenyatta could lead to post election violence, unnamed sources quoted by Tuko said.
The former prime minister’s huge odds of being NASA’s presidential candidate are said to have scared away Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi.
As NASA principles Moses Wetangula, Musalia Mudavadi, Kalonzo Musyoka and Raila Odinga enter the final stages of agreeing on who will be the coalition’s flagbearer, the Opposition financiers are increasingly becoming uncomfortable with the candidature of the ODM leader.

A report in a popular tabloid, Citizen Weekly, noted that Raila’s advanced age has not helped with him either, with many feeling that he should support a younger politician in NASA to face off with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The billionaires feel that a contest between Mudavadi or Kalonzo against Uhuru is likely to be peaceful, unlike that of Uhuru-Raila.
