The Miguna Miguna debacle has gripped the Kenyan public for days on end since his dramatic arrival into the country on Tuesday at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
Aside from the dramatic antics of Miguna, the legal drama surrounding the debacle has been quite unprecedented, characterised by successive defiance of court orders by government officials namely Joseph Boinett, Fred Matiang'i and Mr. Kihalangwa.
Wednesday, the court said enough is enough and asserted its authority found the three state officers guilty of being in contempt of court and is set to sentence them today.
The court must be congratulated for saying in no uncertain terms that there will be no immunity for impunity.
Respect for the rule of law is the hallmark of civilised societies and once public servants start to defy court orders, the country risks plunging into a state of anarchy.
The President of the United States is the most powerful man in the world yet he submits to the rule of law.
