Lolwe Estate in Kisumu East constituency has emerged as a hotbed of business activity in the county.
A Hivisasa writer conducted a research and established why business activities are thriving so well in the estate.
Some of the reasons include:
1. The use of transportation containers as business premises. The containers provide affordable space to put up a business. They are also easy to erect.
2. Lolwe is the richest estate in the constituency therefore any person earning good cash wants to reside in the estate because of its status and class.
This, however, has a negative impact on prices as some commodities charge double price compared to how the goods are sold in other estates.
“Business is good here. At least people living in Lolwe don’t waste much time bargaining”, said Christine who cooks chapati at Lolwe Gate.
3. Lolwe’s large population.
Despite the high cost of living in the area, so many people stay in this luxurious side providing sufficient customers for the businesses.
