Uasin Gishu county governor Jackson Mandago and gubernatorial aspirant Bundotich Buzeki risk being barred from vying in the upcoming August 8 elections.
This is after the supporters of the two candidates clashed on Friday night, near Silverline Hotel leaving five people injured.
The two camps have however refuted claims that their respective supporters initiated the violence.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has indicated it may suspend campaigns of Buzeki and Mandago in Eldoret town following the Friday night incident.
Uasin Gishu county returning officer Winston Nyonje also noted Mandago and Buzeki may be barred from the polls if found to be engaging in chaos.
"We will consider stopping all campaigns for the two in Eldoret town and we are already investigating the incident for possible action," Nyonje said on Saturday as quoted by the Star.
Mandago is seeking re-election on a Jubilee ticket while Buzeki is vying as an independent candidate after failing to clinch Jubilee ticket during the party’s primaries.
The duo has been engaging in fierce battles since Buzeki declared his interest to vie for the county’s top seat.
