The rate at which the IEBC issue is being handled by a section of Kenyan politicians is risky.
It is also very careless and cheap politics which have infiltrated into the standoff with politicians taking the standoff into ethnic routes.
The recent statements from Gatundu South MP, Moses Kuria and the majority leader, Aden Duale should be discouraged and rebuked if the country is to enjoy the present peace and tranquillity even after the 2017 elections.
Kuria's reference to the opposition as a reserve for the lakeside region is uncalled for. Mocking the dead who perished during the Cord demonstrations as revealed in a number of Kuria's Twitter updates is a show of disrespect to the departed souls.
Duale's claim that the IEBC issue is targeted at his Muslim brothers at the electoral body is ill advised. The fact that Issack Hassan is a Muslim and Raila being a Christian does not bring the issue of a religious witch hunt. His statement will only serve to create unnecessary tension between Muslims and Christians in the country.
To maintain the spirit of brotherhood in Kenya, our national leaders should refrain from divisive politics and embrace dialogue in matters of national importance.
